Gum disease is a very common condition and at routine checkups we’re careful to look for signs of gum disease.
Signs of gum disease can include redness, bleeding, swelling and soreness of the gums. The teeth may become loose in severe cases.
What are the early signs?
Blood when brushing is a common early sign of gum disease. You may spot it on your toothbrush, or in the water used to rinse. You may also notice blood when chewing or notice an unpleasant taste. Bad breath can also be a sign of gum disease.
What’s the treatment process like?
The first step is a detailed examination, conducted by one of our clinicians. We’ll walk you through what causes gum disease and how it can be treated. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, our team is always happy to help.
From this initial examination, a treatment plan will be created and tailored to your specific needs.
This plan, for instance, could involve cleaning sessions with our hygienist. In some cases, specialist treatment may be needed.
Once the treatment plan is completed, you’ll be invited back in for reassessment, to make sure everything went well.
